FAQs
What is hydrogen water?
Hydrogen water is regular water infused with extra molecular hydrogen gas (H₂). It’s produced through electrolysis or by dissolving magnesium-based stick packs, allowing water to retain dissolved hydrogen that may offer antioxidant properties.
What are the benefits of hydrogen water?
Emerging research suggests molecular hydrogen may reduce oxidative stress, thereby enhancing athletic recovery, improving cognition, and reducing inflammation, among other benefits. However, results are preliminary and not definitive.
When should I start seeing the benefits of hydrogen water?
Everyone is different. Some people notice benefits within days or weeks, while for others it’s more subtle. Hydrogen water works a lot like a daily vitamin—its effects build overtime.
Many of its benefits, like reducing oxidative stress and supporting a healthy inflammatory response, happen at the cellular level, so you may not feel immediate changes—especially if you already feel healthy.
However, these processes are important for long-term health and aging. In short, hydrogen water is less about noticeable day-to-day effects and more about supporting your health over time. Read more about it here
What research has been done on hydrogen water?
here are over 1500 studies, including more than 200 in humans, examining the effects of molecular hydrogen on oxidative stress, metabolism, recovery, inflammation, and other biological processes. For more information, visit www.hydrogenstudies.com.
Doesn't water already contain hydrogen?
Yes, but in water, hydrogen is chemically bound to oxygen. Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is a different form altogether. Hydrogen water is regular water infused with extra molecular hydrogen gas.
How often should I drink hydrogen water?
Hydrogen doesn’t accumulate in the body; it’s active for a short window and then cleared. That’s why we suggest intermittent use, drinking 2–3 glasses per day spaced across the day. This approach mirrors how hydrogen is studied and how oxidative stress naturally fluctuates during daily life.
Can I drink too much hydrogen water?
Molecular hydrogen has been widely studied and is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). In some individuals, very high intake may cause mild digestive discomfort, such as bloating or loose stools. If you have specific health concerns or sensitivities, consider consulting a healthcare professional to determine what works best for you.

Does hydrogen water taste different?
Hydrogen water tastes just like water. It has no added flavor, no aftertaste, and no change in texture. Just clean, refreshing hydration.
Is hydrogen water the same as alkaline or ionized water?
No. Hydrogen water contains dissolved H₂ gas and is pH-neutral. Alkaline water is defined by high pH levels and lacks consistent research support.
What’s the best way to get hydrogen?
You can increase your intake of molecular hydrogen by drinking hydrogen-enriched water generated through electrolysis or magnesium-based stick packs. You can also inhale hydrogen gas and, in some cases, increase production of hydrogen gas by the microbiome by eating more fermentable fibers.
Is hydrogen water safe?
Molecular hydrogen has been widely studied and is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). In some individuals, very high intake may cause mild digestive discomfort, such as bloating or loose stools. What is a PPM?
PPM stands for 'parts per million,' a unit measuring the concentration of hydrogen gas in water. A concentration of at least 0.5 PPM (equal to 0.5 mg/L) molecular hydrogen is considered therapeutic.
Source:
How many PPMs of hydrogen does it produce?
The Echo Flask generates up to 6 PPM of dissolved hydrogen from a 10‑minute cycle and up to 8 PPM in a 20‑minute cycle.
Is the ECHO Flask H2 certified?
Yes. The Flask is certified to produce 8 PPM hydrogen based on third-party testing.
Do you have to refill the hydrogen?
Our flask generates molecular hydrogen (H2) fresh each time you run a cycle. The electrolysis process generates H2 directly from the water you put in. There are no cartridges to replace and no added chemicals or minerals are needed.
Does it need special water?
We highly recommend using filtered, distilled, or reverse osmosis (RO) water for optimal performance and a clearer understanding of what you’re consuming. While tap water can be used, it contains unknown chemicals and minerals that may shorten the flask’s life. Increased buildup could also require more frequent cleaning. Read more about it here
Does the ECHO Flask change water pH or add metals?
No. The Flask maintains a neutral pH and does not introduce metals into the water. We’ve taken every precaution to ensure safety. All of our products undergo third party testing, which you can review at any time.
For added peace of mind, we’ve also completed a dedicated PFAS report on our Echo Flask, available here.
Can I add supplements to the Flask?
Do not add any supplements directly into your Flask - Use plain water only in the Flask. Adding flavorings, supplements, or powders inside the device can interfere with the electrolysis process and may shorten the life of the unit. If you prefer flavored water or supplements, enjoy them after generating hydrogen water by mixing them in a separate container. Please note that adding ingredients or stirring may reduce the amount of dissolved hydrogen, as hydrogen naturally escapes from water over time. For the highest hydrogen levels, enjoy your hydrogen water soon after it’s made.
Can I put the Flask in the dishwasher?
No. The Echo Flask must be handwashed only. Avoid dishwashers and submerging the device.
Where is the Flask Manual?

Why did my Flask arrive with Water?
The Flask™ contains a small amount of distilled water to keep the membrane primed, because a hydrated membrane matters - efficient hydrogen production, consistent bubble formation, optimal performance from the start, and membrane protection. Your Flask™ is clean and ready to use. Simply discard the water, rinse, and fill it with purified or distilled water for best performance.
If your Flask arrived without water, or if it hasn’t been used for a while and has dried out, no worries —that is completely okay! It simply means the electrode membrane may need a little rehydration before use.
How do I remove the lid?
Hold and Release the Pressure for ~3 seconds. Twist off the cap by gripping the sides of the lid, pressing downward on the sides (not on the pressure release, this is after you've already released the pressure) and twist counterclockwise, applying gentle force, similar to opening a pill bottle. Read more about the lid here
Why is there water underneath the bottom of my Flask?
Small drips from the oxygen port are normal. This is not considered a leak—it’s an occasional and expected result of oxygen being expelled through the port (even beyond the first use). This is one of the features on our PEM membrane that sets us apart from others - It prevents oxygen or contaminants from flowing back into the water.
Small drips can range from a quarter-sized spot to the size of the flask base. Read more here to Understand your Flask™ Generator
Should I hear a Pressure Release sound after running a cycle?
Your Echo Flask™ is designed to automatically, and safely manage internal pressure during and after each hydrogen cycle. Because of this, you may hear different sounds — or none at all. Whether you hear it or not, sound variations do not affect hydrogen concentration (PPM).
How often will I need to charge my Flask?
Your Echo Flask™ is designed to run 5–7 cycles of 10 minutes or 3–4 cycles of 20 minutes per full charge.
Your Flask will indicate when the battery is low, but letting it fully deplete before charging helps maintain proper battery calibration — allow the Flask™ to run until it can no longer complete a full cycle.
Why? Your Flask uses a lithium-ion battery paired with battery management software. When the battery is new, the system’s percentage readings may not yet be perfectly calibrated. This is known as a battery calibration period. Read more about it here
How often should I Clean my Flask?
Your Echo Flask™ is designed to be very simple to take care of - weekly, we recommend a quick rinse and occasional wash with mild soap—similar to any reusable water bottle. The built-in “Clean” cycle also does most of the work for you, so there’s nothing complicated.
As for deeper cleaning, we only recommend about once a month and simply involves soaking it in a water + vinegar mix—no special tools or products needed.
